From Avoidance to Engagement: Strategies for Managing School Refusal Behavior
This training will address pre-referral processes/interventions, Child Find responsibilities, assessment practices, and research-based interventions to support students who refuse to attend school. Additionally, the training will review steps to determine the least restrictive environment in which to address the individual needs of students exhibiting school refusal behaviors.

Presenter Biography:
Dr. Derek Ihori Dr. Derek Ihori is the co-founder of FAPE Consulting and has served in various special education positions during the past 20 years, including executive director, director, program specialist, and school psychologist. Additionally, Dr. Ihori has co-authored eight books focusing on best practices in special education, is a national speaker specializing in putting legal requirements into real-world practice, has been trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), and assisted in the development of the School Reintegration Program for the Foothill SELPA.
